QUESTION

How does Credit Karma calculate my credit score?

ANSWER

1.9K

Credit Karma provides users with credit scores that are based on the VantageScore 3.0 model using information from two of the major credit bureaus, TransUnion and Equifax. The VantageScore model considers various factors in your credit report, including payment history, credit utilization (how much of your available credit you're actually using), age and type of credit, total balances and debt, recent credit inquiries, and available credit. It weights these factors differently to calculate a numerical score between 300 and 850, which is intended to represent the consumer's creditworthiness. Credit Karma updates the scores regularly as it receives new information from the credit bureaus to provide users with an updated snapshot of their credit standing.
